The farm of
LLUCMAÇANES GRAN is considered to be the origen of the village of Llucmaçanes.
The farmhouse was built on a prehistoric settlement . Evidence of this is seen in the dry
stone walls around the church, the farm building and the fields. Many fragments of
ceramics can still be found in the earth.

Many of the drystone
walls near the farmhouse were built using some of the enormous stones from the
Talayots (henges) and talayotic houses. |
Llucmaçanes Gran was also a Roman and Medieval site.
The actual farm buildings date from before 1859. At this time the village of Llucmaçanes
consisted of about 40 houses.
| Sant Gaietà church
was built on land belonging to the farm. |

Work began in 1884 and finished in 1885.
It is a simple Neo-Gothic style church, the façade is built of natural local stone and
has a rose shaped window.
